Whippets are descended from Greyhounds, and were used long ago in England to hunt rats and rabbits. They are one of the fastest dogs in the world, able to achieve speeds of up to 35 miles per hour! Despite their agility, they can be very lazy when kept as house pets, and are often described as couch potatoes when they are not outside running.
