Claude Monet's pond at Giverny was originally a private project, a deliberate cultivation of water lilies and Japanese bridges organized specifically to give the painter a predictable set of subjects he could work through across every weather and time of day. The Monet 2027 Wall Calendar from Graphique reproduces twelve paintings from that Giverny period at full wall scale, from an early Water Lilies canvas with the surface still mostly green to a late Japanese Bridge painting in which the reflection has almost swallowed the architecture. The printing holds the specific broken brushwork and unstable color relationships that Monet was actually painting rather than smoothing them into reproduction-friendly flatness.
For the reader who has stood in front of a Monet at the Muse de l'Orangerie and understood that the work is not about lily pads at all.
