Lions in Kenya don't just face threats from poaching. One of the biggest dangers they face is conflict with local herding communities whose livestock share the same land. When a lion kills cattle, it puts the whole pride at risk. GPS tracking is one of the most effective tools researchers have found for preventing that conflict before it starts.
Each Fahlo Excursion Plush includes a QR code. Scan it with the free Fahlo Animal Tracker app on any Android or Apple device and you'll be connected to a real lion to follow across the African savanna. You'll see its name, location history, and GPS movement data updated regularly. Lions are tracked via GPS collar, custom-designed to be comfortable and non-restrictive so the animals can carry on with normal behavior. Tracking data may be live, delayed, or historical based on safety protocols set by Fahlo's conservation partners.
The Excursion Plush is made in partnership with Ewaso Lions, a Kenyan conservation organization that uses real-time collar data to warn herders when lions are nearby so livestock can be moved out of range. This reduces lion kills, reduces retaliatory killings of lions, and helps both communities coexist. A portion of every purchase supports that work directly.
Female lions do most of the hunting and the GPS data reflects that, showing the long night routes they take tracking prey while males rest. Following your lion on the app gives you a real sense of how much ground a pride covers in a single day.
